RATES OF PAY AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE 2019 – P&O FERRIES
In line with union policy, a pay claim for an increase in pay and improved terms and conditions was submitted to the company. The National Secretary and your Representatives have met with them and the following pay offer has been tabled:-
· A 3.3% increase on all basic rates and associated allowances effective from 1st January 2019.
In addition to this, the company will continue review its family friendly policies and will engage with the RMT in this process. Pension arrangements will be discussed at the next JCC. The recruitment of both Deck and Technical apprentices will continue in 2019 at the same level as 2018 and the company will review the request for the apprentices to be deployed outside of the Dover/Calais route. The company embraces diversity in the workplace and will continue to release elected Representatives to attend agreed RMT National Forums.
After careful consideration, the union's National Executive Committee has instructed me to inform the company of our acceptance of the offer. This instruction has been carried out and the increase and any back monies should hopefully be paid in the April pay run.
Additionally, the National Executive Committee has instructed me to convene a meeting at Unity House with our P&O Representatives, the National Secretary and National Executive Committee present to discuss the on-going issue of our members affected by the ‘salary cap’ in the Irish and North Seas, which unfortunately was not addressed in this pay award.
I will, of course, keep you fully advised on developments following the conclusion of this meeting.
