RATES OF PAY AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE 2019 – UNIPART RAIL DONCASTER
You will be aware that the RMT did not declare the ballot result last week. Despite members voting positively for industrial action, the information in the union’s statutory notice was incorrect. Therefore, under the trade union legislation the ballot is invalid. I understand that this is very frustrating for members, however the trade union legislation is designed to tie trades union is knots and make it difficult for workers to take industrial action. Please accept my wholehearted apologies for this error.
Noting the views of your Representatives, the union’s National Executive Committee has decided to re-ballot members for strike action and industrial action short of a strike. The re-ballot will open on Monday 10th June 2019 and your voting paper will be sent to your home address shortly after this date. If you have not received your voting paper by Friday 14th June 2019 please contact the RMT Helpline on 0800 376 3706 or Head Office on 0207 387 4771 and ask for the Industrial Relations Department, where a replacement voting paper will be sent out.
Please make sure you use your vote and vote YES to both questions when you receive your ballot paper. It is imperative that we get a massive return in the ballot for industrial action so we are not prevented from acting on members' wishes by the new ballot thresholds.
I trust this keeps you fully advised on the matter and I will, of course, update you on any further developments.
