Rates of Pay & Conditions of Service 2019 – Unipart Rail Doncaster


Further to my letter dated 14th March 2019, in which I advised you of the result of the pay referendum. I can report that the RMT has notified Unipart Rail of our members’ overwhelming rejection of their pay offer. Due to an organisational change at Unipart Rail, the company did not meet with the union’s negotiating team until 17th April 2019. At that meeting management agreed write to the RMT with their thoughts on the matter. However, on 24th April 2019, your Lead Officer received correspondence from management advising that Unipart Rail would not be making any improvements to their 2.5% offer.        


Having taken into consideration the views of your Lead Officer and elected Representatives, the union’s National Executive Committee has again considered the matter and has instructed me to hold a ballot for industrial action of you and your colleagues to force the Unipart Rail back to negotiations so they can table an improved offer which would represent a significant financial increase to your pay and genuine enhancements to your terms and conditions.


In line with this instruction, on Thursday 9th May 2019 the independent scrutineer will send a ballot paper to your home address and the ballot will close on Thursday 30th May 2019. I urge you to complete and return your ballot paper in the freepost envelope provided as soon as you receive it. You will be asked to vote for both strike action and industrial action short of a strike – I urge you to vote ‘YES’ to both.
