DON’T BELIEVE THE COMPANY SPIN

Referring to my previous correspondence dated 26th June 2019, I understand that the company has contacted you pleading poverty. You will recall that you rejected the 1.8% offer via a referendum and the company decided that they would offer 0.2%, as if this would make a difference! Your union is of the opinion that to hold another referendum for a measly 0.2% is completely pointless.

The company states that it will not interfere with the formal process of the ballot. This is complete balderdash, by law they cannot interfere in the balloting process but they can spew out their propaganda in the hope that some of it will stick and you and your colleagues will not vote for industrial action.

Wabtec are not the first firm to claim that they are unable to give an RPI pay increase to their staff because of ‘financial difficulties’. This is the catch-all excuse that covers them from making a decent pay offer so that they can line their shareholders’ pockets. After all, without your hard work and loyalty, there can be no profits. All your union is asking for is that you and your colleagues get a bigger slice of the pie, which you all richly deserve.

By now you should have received your ballot paper and I urge you to vote YES for strike action and YES for action short of a strike. If you have not received your ballot paper, please contact the helpline on 0800 376 3706 or you can email info@rmt.org.uk

It is imperative that we get a massive return in the ballot.
