Dear Colleagues

RATES OF PAY AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE 2019 - MACGREGORS

Firstly, I would like to congratulate you and your colleagues for returning a phenomenal result in the ballot for industrial action. This result provides the union with a clear mandate to fight against below inflation pay offers.

Your union’s National Executive Committee has now had the opportunity to consider this fantastic result that you and your colleagues returned in favour of taking strike action and action short of a strike and has taken the decision to call on all MacGregors members at Portsmouth and Newcastle to take the following action:-

You are instructed not to book on for any shifts that commence between:-

• 00:01 hours and 23:59 hours on Wednesday 8th May 2019.
• 00:01 hours and 23:59 hours on Wednesday 22nd May 2019.

Additionally, you are instructed not to work any overtime, not to work on your rest day and only work to your job description between the following times:-

• 00:01 hours and 23:59 hours on Tuesday 7th May 2019.
• 00:01 hours and 23:59 hours on Thursday 9th May 2019.
• 00:01 hours and 23:59 hours on Tuesday 21st May 2019.
• 00:01 hours and 23:59 hours on Thursday 23rd May 2019.

You and your colleagues have already demonstrated a clear sense of solidarity and unity. Now is the time to back this result up with a solid display of industrial action. I urge all members to stand firm together and support this action. Your union believes that you should be adequately rewarded for all your hard work. The company believes that they can pay their workers a pittance and get away with it. It is time to prove them wrong.

The company are aware that as always, RMT remains available for talks and is ready to enter into negotiations in order resolve the current dispute.

STAND FIRM TOGETHER – SUPPORT THE STRIKE
UNITY IS STRENGTH

Yours sincerely

Mick Cash
General Secretary
