RATES OF PAY AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE 2019 – ROYAL FLEET AUXILIARY

7th October 2019

Dear Colleagues

RATES OF PAY AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE 2019 – ROYAL FLEET AUXILIARY

Further to my letter dated 25th September 2019, in which I advised you that voting papers would be despatched in the re-ballot this week. Unfortunately, due to the constraints of the new anti-trade union legislation, the despatch of ballot papers has now been delayed by one week. The independent scrutineer will send a ballot paper to your home address on Wednesday 9th October 2019.

Make no mistake, this delay changes nothing. I note that the Commodore has already sent out communication trying to undermine our dispute. The fact of the matter is that you and your colleagues have endured eight years of pay freezes and to add insult to injury in 2018/19 the RFA imposed another below inflation pay award.

I am sure now that as we are now in the process of re-balloting, the RFA will seek to ride their luck in hope that we lose this ballot. We cannot allow the RFA to hide behind the anti-trade union legislation in order to normalise poverty pay. Therefore, we must continue to stand firm, this is now best achieved by voting in the forthcoming ballot. Therefore - I urge you to vote YES for STRIKE ACTION and INDUSTRIAL ACTION SHORT OF A STRIKE when you receive your voting paper. Do not waste your vote.

MAKE SURE YOU USE YOUR VOTE

As always the union has made themselves readily available for any discussions and are prepared to find a resolution to this dispute.

Once again, I would like to thank you all for your solidarity during this dispute and I will write to you all once I have further information.

Yours sincerely

Mick Cash
General Secretary
