Rates of Pay and Conditions of Service 2020 – Scotrail (Excluding Train Drivers)
Further to my letter dated 29th September 2020, I have been advised that Scotrail has agreed to pay all Train Drivers an additional £375 if they choose to work on their rest day. Moreover, Train Drivers will receive a guaranteed 3% uplift this year as Scotrail has confirmed that they will honour the multi-year pay award which was negotiated last year. Since our pay negotiations started in earnest, Scotrail has been pleading poverty and has constantly informed your union that they are bound by the government’s emergency measures agreements. However, they have found enough money to bung Train Drivers an extra £375 for working on their rest days and honour an inflation busting pay award.
This shows the utter contempt that management has for the majority of their employees. The preferential treatment which is being conferred on Train Drivers is well and truly a kick in the teeth to all other hard working employees at Scotrail. You have worked throughout the lockdown and the company should recognise this by tabling a pay offer which recognises all the difficult work that you and your colleagues have had to undertake in challenging circumstances. Unfortunately, the company has procrastinated over this matter and has forced your union to enter into a dispute situation.
Preparations for a ballot for industrial action are now underway and once complete, ballot papers will be posted to your home address. In the meantime, I would be most grateful if you could ensure that we have an up to date mobile phone number and email address for you. If you know of any of your colleagues who may have not given us electronic contact details, please ask them to do so. This may be done via the website's e-services accessible from www.rmt.org.uk or by calling the Helpline on 0800 376 3706 or by e-mailing email@example.com Otherwise you can speak to your local RMT rep or RMT Regional Office on 0141 332 1117
