RATES OF PAY AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE 2020 – VOLKERRAIL
I am writing to report that prior to the coronavirus crisis the union’s negotiating team was due to meet with Volkerrail to discuss the 2020 pay award. As these meetings were cancelled, it has left some employees potentially at risk of being paid lower than the minimum wage due to various salary sacrifice schemes. In order to mitigate this risk the company are proposing the following:-
· The company implements a temporary rate increase of 2.25% to all rates in the bargaining group.
· The increase would be backdated to beginning of April
· This temporary increase will remain in place until such time as pay negotiations conclude, at which point the company will implement whatever is agreed.
In line with the wishes of your union’s National Executive Committee, I have advised Volkerrail of our acceptance of the temporary agreement and I have requested that the increase is paid at the earliest opportunity. I have also advised the company that the RMT looks forward to recommencing pay negotiations as it is practicable.
