Dear Colleagues

Rates of Pay and Conditions of Service 2020/2021 – COTA

In line with union policy, a pay claim for an increase in pay and improved terms and conditions has been submitted. The union’s negotiating team has met with the employers and the following offer has been tabled:-

A 1% on increase on base rates; plus 1% for loss of enhanced redundancy and 0.21% for loss of delay payments.

After long and careful consideration, your union’s National Executive Committee (NEC) had instructed me to hold a referendum so you and your colleagues can have your say on the pay offer.

Having considered the views of your negotiating team your NEC are strongly recommending that you vote ‘NO’ to reject this offer. Your NEC is of the belief that you and your colleagues in the offshore sector are essential workers and have had to cope with mass upheaval during the global health crisis. You have had to deal with additional sanitisation and continual cleaning duties, in order to ensure that your employers’ installations are clean and coronavirus free. The NEC expect that essential workers should receive an inflation proof pay rise and what is on the table is essentially a pay cut in real terms.

The NEC wishes to make it clear that should you reject this derisory offer, the RMT will support you in whatever action you choose in order to gain a pay rise which recognises your true value to the industry. RMT members are essential workers and deserve to be rewarded for their efforts undertaken during the pandemic. You have kept the offshore installations running and deserve to be rewarded. Therefore, the NEC are recommending that you vote ‘NO’ to reject the offer.

The on-line referendum will close on 13:00 hours on Thursday 8th July 2021.
