RATES OF PAY AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE 2021 – DB CARGO

Our Ref: BR3/0001/DBC

9th August 2021

Dear Colleague,

RATES OF PAY AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE 2021 – DB CARGO

In line with Union Policy, a pay claim for an increase in pay and improved terms and condition has been submitted. The Regional Organiser and your representatives have met with the company and the following two-year offer has been tabled:-

A 2.5% increase to basic salary and allowances, effective 1st July 2021.

A 2% increase to basic salary and allowances effective 1st July 2022.

The next pay review will therefore take place on 1st July 2023. Please note, this increase does not necessarily apply, or in full to those employees who currently have pay protection, however, the company will review each of these on a case-by-case basis and adjust accordingly. The London Allowance is calculated as 9% of basic salary and it will therefore increase as the basic salary increases.

The offer has been considered by your union’s National Executive Committee (NEC) and it has instructed me to carry out a referendum so that you can have you say on the matter. The NEC is also recommending that you vote ‘NO’ to reject the offer for the following reasons:-

The Year One part of the offer is below the current rate of RPI which currently stands at 3.9%.
Year Two part of the offer is a flat rate and does not consider fluctuations in the RPI rate, which are currently rising steeply.
