Our Ref: BR4/0001/SR(T&W)
28th June 2021

Dear Colleagues

RATES OF PAY AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE 2021 – STADLER RAIL (TYNE & WEAR METRO CONTRACT)

I write further to my letter of 25th June 2021, in which I advised you that the industrial action had been suspended following receipt of a revised offer from Stadler Rail. You will also be aware that your union’s National Executive Committee (NEC) has instructed me to hold a referendum so you and your colleagues can have your say on the revised offer.

I can report that having considered the views of your negotiating team the NEC is recommending that you vote ‘YES’ to accept the revised offer. The on-line referendum will close on Thursday 8th July 2021 at 11:00.

For ease of reference the revised pay offer is as follows: -

A one-off non-contractual payment of £750 tax-free for all weekly paid personnel to transfer to four weekly pay. Where individuals require assistance to manage the change, bridging loans will be made available.
For 2022, the negotiated settlement will be increased by a guaranteed 1% increment or a consolidated lump sum of £500 will be paid as a minimum, whichever is the greater increase in annual pay.
For the avoidance of doubt, all allowances are indexed.
This is a package deal; everyone will need to transfer to four weekly pay. Personnel that have already transferred to four weekly pay will receive the enhancement in the payment.
Referendum Instructions

You will shortly receive an email from a company called “Choice Voting” which will allow you to register your vote. Please follow the instructions and make sure you complete this by no later than 11:00 on Thursday 8th July 2021. Once you have voted, you will receive an email from Choice Voting confirming how you have voted and that your vote has been cast successfully.

If you know any of your colleagues who has not received this email, or if you have any difficulties voting please contact referenda@rmt.org.uk or the RMT Helpline on 0800 376 3706

VOTE ‘YES’ TO ACCEPT THE OFFER

Yours sincerely

Michael Lynch
