Rates of Pay & Conditions of Service 2021-Balfour Beatty (Rail Plant)

I am writing to report to you on the latest developments concerning the negotiations in relation to the above mentioned matter.

At an initial meeting held with the company on Wednesday 2nd December 2020 in order to discuss the RMT pay submission the company tabled the following offer:

* 0.5% increase in basic rates of pay applicable from 1st January 2021
* £150 increase for staff earning between £20-£25k applicable from 1st January 2021

It was the view of the RMT negotiating team that this offer was unacceptable and fell well short of the aspirations of our members. This view was conveyed to the company in no uncertain terms with the meeting adjourned in order for the company position to be re-considered.

A further meeting will now be held on Monday 7th December 2020 and I will of course keep you informed of any further developments in this regard.

Please be assured that RMT remains determined to achieve a fair and reasonable award for our members during these negotiations. This is particularly pertinent when considering the crucial role played by Balfour Beatty members in maintaining service levels during the Coronavirus pandemic.
