Dear Colleagues

Rates of Pay and Conditions of Service 2021 – Caledonian MacBrayne

Referring to our previous correspondence, further talks have been convened and the company has offered the following for our members employed by Caledonian MacBrayne on the small ferries fleet: -

An increase of the daily food allowance from £10.30 per day to £10.75 per day.

The current allowance is non-taxable and does not have to be receipted. Should this increase be accepted, then the company will approach HMRC asking them to increase the current dispensation from £10.30 to £10.75. The allowance would then be applicable from the date HMRC give agreement and would not be backdated as this would create a tax benefits charge. If HMRC does not agree to increase the dispensation on this allowance then further talks will have to be convened with the company in respect of this matter.

Your National Executive Committee (NEC) has carefully considered the offer and it has instructed me to hold an electronic referendum of all members on the small ferries fleet so that you can have your say on the company’s proposals.

The on-line referendum will close at 10am on Thursday 27th May 2021
