After long and careful consideration, your union’s National Executive Committee (NEC) had instructed me to hold a referendum so you and your colleagues so that you can have your say on the pay offer. I can now report that in order to get a quick turnaround and bearing in mind the current coronavirus situation, we are running this referendum electronically.
Having considered the views of your negotiating team the NEC is recommending that you vote ‘NO’ to reject the pay offer. The 0.7% increase is based on Consumer Price Index (CPI) measure of inflation. The Retail Price Index (RPI), which includes housing costs and excludes high earners’ spending, is the inflation measure that the RMT uses for negotiating pay. Union policy states that under no circumstances will our members’ remuneration be permitted to fall behind RPI inflation. Therefore, the NEC are recommending that you vote ‘NO’ to reject the company’s offer.
The on-line referendum will close on Thursday 8th April 2021 at 10:30
You will shortly receive an email from a company called “Choice Voting” which will allow you to register your vote. Please follow the instructions and make sure you complete this by no later than 10:30 on Thursday 8th April 2021. Once you have voted, you will receive an email from Choice Voting confirming how you have voted and that your vote has been cast successfully.
If you know any of your colleagues who has not received this email, or if you have any difficulties voting please contact email@example.com or the RMT Helpline on 0800 376 3706
