Dear Colleague,

RATES OF PAY AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE 2021 – ROYAL FLEET AUXILIARY

I write to advise you that I have been updated by the Commodore in regard to the 2021 pay claim for RFA members. As you are no doubt aware, the guidance for Civil Service pay for 2021/22 reflected the Government announcement last November that there is to be a pay freeze for 2021/22 with the exception of those whose base pay if less than £24,000 per annum. These individuals would receive a non- consolidated increase of £250. There was also a commitment to increase the National Minimum Wage and the National Living Wage.

The RFA is insistent that it must adhere to the government guidelines and this means that there will be no pay rise other than for Cadets and Apprentices who fall below the £24,000 threshold. However, the RFA Shared Bonus Award Scheme is outside this pay freeze and it is due for payment in March 2022.

Your National Executive Committee has considered the matter and it has instructed me to hold a zoom meeting as soon as is practical, between your RFA convenor Iain Parkin, Lead Officer Mark Carden and the National Executive Committee to discuss the way forward.

I will keep you advised of further developments in this matter.

Yours sincerely

Michael Lynch
General Secretary
