Dear Colleagues
Rates of Pay and Conditions of Service 2023 – Arriva Rail London
Referring to previous correspondence, further talks have been resumed and the following productivity offer has been tabled by management:
Annual leave
- One additional annual leave day for colleagues in grade groups we are discussing today – this equates to approximately 0.5% of salary
- In addition, colleagues will have the opportunity to sell this day at the end of the year if they choose, which will be payable the following year.
- Colleagues to be able to carry over 2 unused Annual Leave days per leave year which must be used within 3 months (by the 31st March the following year)
- Option to work rest days and take as lieu days - up to 5. Must be used within 6 months of rest day worked. This point would be applicable only for customer service grades (stations and revenue protection)
Concession bonus scheme – applicable MSS for traincare, SIS for station staff, TTS for revenue protection staff:
- Specifics of scheme to be defined by management side and worked through with relevant FC reps for each scheme
- Implementation to start tracking performance from 01 April 2024
- Opportunity to earn up to £1K for excellent performance, with scaling back down in stages to £200 for minor improvements to current performance
- Detailed scheme to be proposed to relevant FC by 21st January 2024
Alignment of anniversary dates to 1st April – this impacts WA shunters (currently 03 April), WA platform and sales staff (currently 03 April), WA traincare (currently 28 May), WA revenue protection (currently 28 May).
Christmas eve – for customer service grades, for those working beyond 21.00 taxi bookings to home addresses will become entitled.
Having carefully considered this matter and noting the views of the Regional Organiser, the union’s National Executive Committee has noted that these proposals do not represent a significant improvement to the pay offer which you and your colleagues previously rejected. Therefore, this union will remain in dispute with Arriva Rail London and the ballot for industrial action remains on.
As a reminder, the independent scrutineer will send a ballot paper to your home address on Tuesday 9th January 2024. I urge you to complete and return your ballot paper in the freepost envelope provided as soon as you receive it.
In the ballot you will be asked to vote for both strike action and industrial action short of a strike – I urge you to vote ‘YES’ to both.
If you do not receive your voting paper, or know of a colleague who has not received it, please call the freephone helpline on 0800 376 3706, RMT Head Office on 0207 387 4771 or e-mail to request a replacement.
Important Please Note: The independent scrutineer for RMT Ballots and Elections is 'Civica Election Services'. Letters from Civica are not Junk Mail and should be opened. |
Yours sincerely
Michael Lynch
General Secretary
