ALL INDUSTRIAL ACTION SUSPENDED
Our Ref: BR1/0001/BN(A)
28th March 2024
Dear Colleagues
Rates of Pay and Conditions of Service 2023 - Bidvest Noonan (Alstom Northern Trains Ltd and TransPennine Express Contracts)
Please note that this email replaces the correspondence that emailed out earlier today – please disregard the previous email
Members are congratulated for the strike action on 4th and 5th March 2024 which was solidly supported by RMT members at Manchester and Glasgow Traincare Centres. However, I have now received notification from Bidvest Noonan that the Alstom Northern Trains contract will transfer to OCS on 1st April 2024. Consequently, OCS will take over the Alstom Northern Trains members’ employment contracts, including: all the previous rates of pay and terms and conditions of employment. Members who are on the Alstom TransPennine Express will remain with Bidvest Noonan.
As members are transferring on to OCS on 1st April 2024, and this ballot was aggregated across the Northern Trains and TransPennine Express contracts, the ballot mandate will become invalid at the point of transfer. As members are currently participating in continuous industrial action short of a strike, the union’s National Executive Committee has had to take the decision to suspend all the industrial action from 23:59 hours on Sunday 31st March 2024. Consequently, members are now instructed to work as normal from midnight on Sunday.
I would like to thank all members at Manchester and Glasgow Traincare Centres for their support during this pay dispute.
The union resolves to continue fighting for pay justice for all members on the Alstom train cleaning contracts. For members remaining with Bidvest Noonan, there will be a re-ballot and I will advise members on the TransPennine Express of the ballot timetable in due course. For members moving over to OCS, the union’s negotiating team plans to meet with your new employer and will ascertain if OCS are willing to enter into pay negotiations.
I trust this keeps you updated for now and will of course advise you of all developments.
Yours sincerely
Michael Lynch
General Secretary
