Dear RMT Member,
RATES OF PAY AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE 2023 – HITACHI RAIL LTD (LNER EAST COAST)
Despite the best efforts of your Union to resolve this matter, the Company has instead concentrated on making unsafe plans to lessen the impact of your strike action. The action remains on and I urge you to stand firm together to support the action.
I have written to your colleagues on other Hitachi Rail contracts to advise them so they can support you taking part in the action to fight for a well-deserved and fair increase to your rates of pay from a company making over £100 million in profit off the back of your hard work.
The following strike action due to commence from tomorrow remains in place and I urge you to stand firm together to support the action:
Craigentinny Train Maintenance Depot:
Members are instructed not to book on for any shifts that commence between:
- 05:59 hours on Saturday 27th January 2024 until 05:58 hours on Thursday 1st February 2024
Furthermore, members are instructed to take industrial action short of a strike as outlined
below:
- Not to work any overtime or rest day working from 17:30 hours on Tuesday 23rd January 2024 until 05:58 hours on Saturday 27th January 2024
- Not to work any overtime or rest day working from 05:59 hours on Thursday 1st February 2024 until further notice
Bounds Green & Doncaster Train Maintenance Depots:
Members are instructed not to book on for any shifts that commence between:
- 17:30 hours on Saturday 27th January 2024 until 17:29 hours on Thursday 1st February 2024
Furthermore, members are instructed to take industrial action short of a strike as outlined
below:
- Not to work any overtime or rest day working from 17:30 hours on Tuesday 23rd January 2024 until 17:29 hours on Saturday 27th January 2024
- Not to work any overtime or rest day working from 17:30 hours on Thursday 1st February 2024 until further notice
I have also written to Unite the Union to organise a joint picket line that will be in place at Bounds Green Maintenance Depot from 17:00 hours on Saturday 27th January 2024.
Your Regional Organiser and representatives will continue negotiations with your employer in order to secure you a reasonable pay offer. You are commended for your tremendous strength and resolve by taking this action and I urge you to continue to stand firm together and support the industrial action until this matter is resolved. I will keep you advised of all further developments.
