Dear RMT Member, 

 

RATES OF PAY AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE 2023 – HITACHI RAIL LTD (LNER EAST COAST)

 

STRIKE ACTION & ACTION SHORT OF STRIKE

 

Hitachi Rail have refused to put forward a reasonable offer that adequately compensates you and your colleagues for your hard work. The derisory offer was rejected by members as it did not meet your aspirations, and no further offer has been forthcoming.

 

This situation is unacceptable to your Union, therefore the National Executive Committee is calling on all affected members on the LNER contract to take the following strike action and industrial action short of a strike for members at Craigentinny Train Maintenance Depot ONLY:

 

Members are instructed not to book on for any shifts that commence between:

 

• 05:59 hours on Saturday 27^th January 2024 until 05:58 hours on Thursday 1^st February 2024

 

Furthermore, members are instructed to take industrial action short of a strike as outlined below:

 

• Not to work any overtime or rest day working from 17:30 hours on Tuesday 23^rd January 2024 until 05:58 hours on Saturday 27^th January 2024

 

• Not to work any overtime or rest day working from 05:59 hours on Thursday 1^st February 2024 until further notice

 

Members who are facing financial hardship as a result of taking strike action can approach their union Branch and/or Regional Council for assistance in this matter. Funds have been made available to assist striking members experiencing hardship due to industrial action.  

 

I urge you to continue to stand firm together and support the industrial action until this matter is resolved. I will keep you advised of all further developments.
