Dear RMT Members
RATES OF PAY & CONDITIONS OF SERVICE 2023 – LONDON UNDERGROUND
STRIKE ACTION REMAINS ON
Your RMT negotiating team has been in talks with LUL this week in an effort to receive an improved offer. At the conclusion of these talks, a slightly revised offer was received, dependent on the strike action commencing this evening being suspended. A summary of this offer is as follows:
- No improvement in the 5% basic pay increase.
- No minimum increase for lower paid grades – LUL stated this would be a cornerstone of negotiations for 2024 but there is no offer for our current pay claim.
- Travel Benefits – LUL proposed the establishment of a LU Company Council working group to commence from February 2024 with the aim of overseeing and expediting the process of pursuing additional leisure travel benefits. LUL’s intention would be to seek to implement any additional improved benefits from 1st April 2025.
- Pay Bands – For this year only, LUL would amend the rules so that employees earning £99,500 or less, whose salary is within a current LU pay band, will receive a consolidated pay award for 2023 on a personal salary basis. However, the pay bands will remain frozen.
A meeting amongst your Lead Officer and Reps took place this morning and an overwhelming majority were clearly opposed to any suspension of action in response to this offer.
