Our Ref: SH/0001/PNTL

2nd February 2023

Dear Colleagues

Rates of Pay and Conditions of Service 2023 – Pacific Nuclear Transport Ltd

Referring to previous correspondence, pay talks have been re-convened and the following revised offer has been tabled:

A two year pay deal, consisting of the following:

  • For 2023/24, an increase of 6.5% on basic pay, back dated to 1st April 2023 (which, subject to sign off of the head of terms, will be paid in the next practicable payroll). This increase includes a requirement for each employee to forego up to three days leave per leave year which would normally be accrued during training days. This would continue in perpetuity
  • All employees would, if they chose, be entitled to participate in the ‘Healthshield’ everyday healthcare plan, with the company funding Level 1 for employees and their dependent children
  • Ratings grades 0-3 would be removed and all in scope ratings would be moved to grade 4 (backdated to 1st April 2023)
  • Grade 16 would be added across all Rating and Officer grades
  • For 2024/25, an increase of 4.25% on basic pay, taking effect on 1st April 2024

In addition, a heads of terms agreement to have further negotiations over:

  1. Enrolment of Seafarers into the Combined Nuclear Pension Plan Defined Contribution Scheme
  2. Pay – including benchmarking, pay scales and pay progression
  3. Crewing
  4. Training Day Utilisation
  5. Policies including long service and family friendly areas
  6. Member ballot to be issued before end of September 2024

Consequently, the union’s National Executive Committee has instructed me to hold an e-referendum of you and your colleagues so that you can have your say. Additionally, the National Executive Committee is recommending that you vote ‘NO’ to reject this offer. The union’s negotiating team approached the employer to remove the three training days and leave issue, but they declined to do so. Additionally, the first-year element of this offer is below inflation.

The on-line referendum will close at 11:00 hours on Thursday 15th February 2024.

Referendum instructions: you must have an email address to take part
