Rates of Pay and Conditions of Service 2023 – Royal Fleet Auxiliary

Dear Colleagues

Rates of Pay and Conditions of Service 2023 – Royal Fleet Auxiliary

Despite meeting with Ministers and the MoD in the past few weeks, no-one seems in a hurry to resolve the ongoing pay dispute. Your union has made itself available at every single opportunity to get back round the table a negotiate a fair settlement. However, no-one from the RFA has scheduled in a date to re-commence pay talks. The union’s negotiating team and I have been repeatedly told that the MoD will look to start 2024 pay negotiations in mid-September. It is clear that the MoD are failing to address our concerns, RMT members remain out of pocket from this derisory pay settlement and the RFA seem content to kick this issue into the long grass.

As your union has not received any meaningful proposals to resolve this dispute, the union’s National Executive Committee has considered the matter once more and it is calling on all RFA members to take the following strike action:

  • If your ship is in port DO NOT TURN TO for any duty that commences between 00:01 hours and 23:59 hours on Friday 16th August 2024.

NB:  During the above period of strike action members must ensure that the safety of the ship is maintained, including Moorings and Gangways, at all times.

Stand firm together during this action and show the MoD and the RFA that you are prepared to fight against their contemptuous attitude towards your legitimate demands for pay justice.

I thank you for your support so far and urge you to continue your magnificent solidarity and determination to achieve a decent pay increase and real improvements to your terms and conditions.

SUPPORT YOUR UNION

SUPPORT THE STRIKE ACTION

Yours sincerely
