Dear RMT Member
RATES OF PAY & CONDITIONS OF SERVICE 2023 – ROYAL FLEET AUXILIARY
I am updating you on the current situation with RFA, resulting from your call through a democratic ballot to hold Industrial Action if they do not improve the 4.5% pay offer for 2023/24.
RMT Assistant National Secretary Mark Carden and your RFA Convenor Ian Parkin attended an initial meeting yesterday with RFA, along with our sister union Nautilus, to discuss recent ballot results for Industrial Action and whether there was going to be a serious effort to discuss a pay solution.
Although RFA never had any formal percentage offer to improve on the 4.5% imposed, as HM Treasury had not responded in time for yesterday’s meeting, they did have some suggestions on ways to improve pay by possibly consolidating some other areas of their budget into wages.
Unfortunately, there were no details presented to the Maritime Trade Unions yesterday. However, we have agreed to meet again next Tuesday (23rd April) when more details should be available.
I will write to you again with a further update after that meeting.
Yours sincerely
Michael Lynch
