Rates of Pay and Conditions of Service 2023 – Royal Fleet Auxiliary

22nd August 2024

Dear Colleagues

Rates of Pay and Conditions of Service 2023 – Royal Fleet Auxiliary

On Thursday 22 August 2024, a meeting was held at the MoD Main Building between RFA, RN and MoD representatives and your Maritime Trade Unions (RMT and Nautilus).

This meeting allowed for a frank exchange of views between the MTU’s and incoming government officials tasked with finding a resolution. The respective concerns and priorities in delivering short, medium and longer term solutions were discussed and we await clarification on these points in the form of a letter from the MoD.

However, whilst the RFA/MoD were not in a position to put forward a proposal to resolve the dispute, the constructive meeting improves the foundation on which to build a resolution and the framework for ongoing discussions.

Whilst it is disappointing to not yet be in receipt of a formally defined offer, the seriousness and commitment to future pace is encouraging and indicative of a new approach to settling this dispute. A further meeting for next week is being scheduled, with further updates expected at the earliest opportunity.

Consequently, the strike action remains on and if your ship is in port then members are instructed not to ‘turn to’ (book on) for any duty that commences between 08:00 hours on Tuesday 3rd September 2024 and 07:59 hours on Wednesday 4thSeptember 2024.

NB:  During the above period of strike action members must ensure that the safety of the ship is maintained, including Moorings and Gangways, at all times.

STAND FIRM TOGETHER

SUPPORT THE STRIKE ACTION - UNITY IS STRENGTH

Yours sincerely

Michael Lynch
