RATES OF PAY & CONDITIONS OF SERVICE 2024 – BALFOUR BEATTY (ITT)
Your RMT Reps have met with the Company to discuss this years’ claim for a substantial increase in rates of pay and improvements to conditions of service. Following these meetings, the Company offered a 3.5% increase, effective 1st January 2024.
The National Executive Committee has now considered this matter and having noted the views of your Lead Officer and Reps that it is unlikely to meet your aspirations, the NEC has taken the decision to reject the offer.
It falls well below the RPI figure for November 2023 which is the traditional benchmark for negotiations and would create a disparity with the offer made to your colleagues employed under the Construction Industry Joint Council (CJIC) agreement. The Union will not allow a group of workers to be treated differently to colleagues in the same workplace and for pay disparity to divide the workforce.
I have now written to the Company to request further talks with a view to receiving a much improved offer and I will keep you advised of all further developments.
