Dear Colleagues
Rates of Pay and Conditions of Service 2024 – Caledonian MacBrayne
Please see the message below from Gordon Martin, RMT Lead Officer for Caledonian MacBrayne:
“I attended pay negotiations yesterday along with the CalMac Coordinator Brian Reynolds and Representatives from the Western Isles and Clyde Port Committees. At the meeting, the company tabled the following offer, which they advised was their ‘full and final’ offer:
- A 2.2% increase in salary
- A £300 consolidated cash payment to shore based Nightwatchmen, Retail Assistants and Cleaners
- To align annual leave to 37 days (including public holidays) for all shore-based staff
Your Representatives and I are of the unanimous opinion that this offer is derisory and should be rejected. The headline figure of 2.2% falls well below the current rate of inflation and would represent a pay cut for you and your colleagues. Consequently, I have written a report to the union’s National Executive Committee recommending that your union formally rejects this inadequate pay offer and enters into dispute with CalMac. The union’s National Executive Committee will consider this matter later today and I hope to provide you with a further update once your National Executive Committee has decided on a course of action.
Kind Regards
Gordon Martin
RMT Lead Officer for Caledonian MacBrayne”
I will continue to update you on developments.
Yours sincerely
Michael Lynch
General Secretary
