Our Ref: B/0001/CT4N

5th April 2024

Dear RMT Member,

Rates of Pay and Conditions of Service 2024 – CT4N

In line with Union policy, a claim was submitted to the Company for a substantial increase in rates of pay and improvements to conditions of service. Talks have taken place with the Company and the offer which has been tabled is as follows:

  1. CT4N PCV drivers presently earning £12.25 and working 1 in 2 Saturdays

The guaranteed week would reduce from 42.5 hrs to an average of 40 hrs. Weeks would vary between 38 and 42 hours achieving a 40-hour average over a 13-week period. In allowing that 4-hour flexibility, the schedules team and TU reps will work closely to design rotas that achieve the best possible work/life balance through avoiding the need to balance weeks (and hence different daily start times). It may be that individual TU rota reps take responsibility for rota construction given their superior knowledge of members wishes and may wish to suggest alternative scheduling parameters.

Duties will vary in length between 7 hours and 10 hours with no changes to other existing scheduling parameters i.e a 30 minute unpaid break. A maximum of 10% of duties would be cut as splits to allow efficient coverage of school and other peak only services. Such split duties would have a suggested maximum of four hours unpaid time unless agreed otherwise.

The hourly rate would move to £13.50 giving an actual percentage increase of 10.2% and a gross ‘take home’ increase of 4% in line with current CPI.

  1. PCV Drivers working one in three Saturdays

Scheduling parameters would change as above. The hourly rate would move by 10.2% to £12.85 and a gross take home increase of 4% would similarly apply.

  1. PCV Minibus Drivers working 1 in 2 Saturdays/Sundays

The guaranteed week would remain unaltered at 42.5hrs with the hourly rate becoming £12.74. Gross take home pay therefore is the same as a CT4N PCV Driver.

  1. Medilink TUPE drivers who receive sick pay

Scheduling parameters would change as above. The hourly rate would move by 10.2% to £13.15 and a gross take home increase of 4% would similarly apply.

  1. Easylink Drivers

No changes would be made to contractual content. The hourly rate would move above the Real Living Wage of £12.00 to £12.33 - an increase of 8.8%. Flexibility of duty times across the working day of the Easylink contract would be expected.

  1. Lead Drivers

The guaranteed week would remain unaltered at 42.5hrs. The hourly rate moves from £13.20 to £14.50, retaining the differential with CT4N PCV drivers.

  1. Team Leaders

The guaranteed week would remain unchanged at 40hrs. The annual salary moves from £29,427 to £30,604.

  1. Support Staff

The current rate of £11.13 would move to the Real Living Wage of £12.00, an increase of 7.8%.
