Dear Colleagues
Rates of Pay and Conditions of Service 2024 – Mitie Security (Eurostar Contract)
Following your rejection of the company’s full and final offer, the union’s negotiating team met again with your employer. The case was put that the previous offer, despite the recommendation from our negotiating team to accept, fell short of our members’ aspirations and it was stated that an improved offer is clearly required to avert a formal dispute situation.
At the meeting, the union’s negotiating team informed the company of the seriousness of the position we are in and if we do not receive an improved offer then the next step our union would take would be to declare a dispute and ballot members for industrial action. This statement about the situation seemed to focus the mind of management on the matter, and a further meeting has been promised.
I would also like to remind members that the RMT is the sole recognised union for collective bargaining purposes and if you are aware of any employees who are not in, please can you encourage them to join the RMT. This is to ensure that your union has the maximum bargaining leverage of a visible workplace campaign and will be able to conduct effective industrial action should this be necessary.
I will of course, keep you advised of all further developments.
Yours sincerely
Michael Lynch
General Secretary
