Dear RMT Member

RATES OF PAY & CONDITIONS OF SERVICE 2024 – MITIE SECURITY (EUROSTAR CONTRACT)

Your RMT negotiators met with the company last week to seek an improved pay offer following the rejection by you and your colleagues of Mitie’s previous offer. Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of your negotiating team, no improved offer was forthcoming, primarily as a result of Mitie not being able to secure further funds from Eurostar.

After consulting with your representatives, it was agreed that a meeting of the membership should be held as the view being put forward was that the “full and final offer” from the company would therefore now be acceptable as no new funds were available.

Your Regional Organiser reported to the RMT National Executive Committee (NEC) that the meeting of the members had taken place and had indeed reached the conclusion that the offer should now be accepted and that the issue of insourcing of the security contract should be pursued with Eurostar directly.

Your NEC has therefore instructed me to advise the company that the offer is accepted. For clarity, the offer was as follows:

  • A 4.3% increase for all colleagues working on the Eurostar contract, backdated to 1st April 2024. In addition, those working on the Post positions at St Pancras and Temple Mills will receive an additional 3.0%, meaning they will receive a 7.3% increase
  • All staff would be entitled to 2 additional free travel vouchers to the current 4 travel vouchers provided (a total of 6 travel vouchers per year)

I have advised the company that the offer has been accepted and that we are no longer in dispute.

Your NEC has also noted that taking security for Eurostar in-house offers substantial benefits both to you and your colleagues and to Eurostar and stated that this is the end we will now be working towards. Therefore, I have been instructed to pursue discussions with Eurostar in line with the Contractors' Charter on the insourcing of the security contract.

I trust this keeps you advised of the current position and hope to report to you in future over progress being made in insourcing this vital service.

Yours sincerely
