Dear RMT Member

RATES OF PAY & CONDITIONS OF SERVICE 2024 – NETWORK RAIL

Your representatives will speak to you over the next two weeks to listen to your feedback on the latest offer from Network Rail for your Pay and Conditions Award for 2024. Once this is done, your National Executive Committee will meet on the 6th of June to consider your feedback and to decide on the offer.

Please note the opinion of your negotiating team below when considering the offer.

"Network Rail has not moved the headline offer of 3.5%, which represents real terms pay cut as it falls below the 5.3% inflation benchmark for this year.

Were we to accept, you would be up to 20% worse off than before the pandemic.

This is also true for most who would benefit from the minimum flat rate underpin of £1275.

You should not accept offers that may be a pay increase but are below the rising cost of living because this leaves you and your family worse off.

Network Rail must address declining living standards and the impact of worsened shift working. Your living standards and well-being must be improved through increasing wages and better work-life balance.

Further, there is no extension to the No Compulsory Redundancy agreement. Job security remains an extremely important issue for us in a changing railway industry.

Your union is prepared to negotiate, campaign and fight to improve pay conditions and job security.

Therefore, we believe you should strongly support a rejection of the offer and we should seek a better offer on pay and job security.”

I trust this keeps you advised for now. Full details of the offer are to be found here.

Yours sincerely

Mick Lynch

General Secretary
