Dear RMT Member

RATES OF PAY & CONDITIONS OF SERVICE 2024 – BIDVEST NOONAN (C2C)

Following a series of pay discussions, the company have proposed to increase members’ pay as follows:

  • 10% increase from 1st April 2024 (in-line with the Living Wage Foundation increase), which means £12 per hour UK rate and £13.15 in London

As well as a pay increase, your union’s negotiating team sought improvements for leisure travel arrangements, as well as improved sickness pay arrangements for those with a terminal medical clinical diagnosis, without any final agreement yet having been reached.

The 10% increase has been applied in keeping with the company’s commitment to the Living Wage Foundation rates and our negotiations, still ongoing, are seeking greater improvements to the pay and benefits package.

Your union reps believe that in the current circumstances this is the best that can be achieved through negotiations.

Employers who sign-up to the commitments of liberal campaigning organisations that commit them to paying an amount calculated as a ‘living wage’ (using a cost-of-living calculation which RMT rejects) are provided with a cover argument that they can use to justify their profiteering and shield themselves against the legitimate criticisms that the rates of pay and terms & conditions of our members are inadequate. This is the present situation that you and your RMT colleagues at Bidvest Noonan find yourselves in. While we are for any increase in the minimum wage, your union by no means sees this as a replacement for proper collective bargaining - the arguments your union makes for cleaners to be taken in-house, to the benefit of both members and passengers, still stand.

Your union’s National Executive Committee has therefore considered the matter and instructed me to accept the company’s offer.

I trust this keeps you updated on the matter.

Yours sincerely

Michael Lynch

General Secretary
