Dear Colleagues
Rates of Pay and Conditions of Service 2024 – Caledonian MacBrayne
Referring to previous correspondence, I can confirm that the improved pay offer from Caledonian MacBrayne is as follows:
- A 3.5% increase in salary to all employees which will be fully consolidated and pensionable. This will be backdated to the 1st October 2024
- A £300 consolidated cash payment to shore based Nightwatchmen, Retail Assistants and Cleaners
- To Align annual leave to 37 days (including public holidays) for all shore-based staff
- This is a one-year offer
This increased offer to 3.5% is based on the removal of any future discretionary bonus payments. Further to this, CalMac and the RMT have agreed to commit to discussing further terms of our pay claim and the union has agreed to set up a joint working party to discuss finding further operational efficiencies.
Your union’s National Executive Committee has noted a report received from your negotiating team and taken the decision to conduct an electronic referendum of affected members.
Additionally, the National Executive Committee is strongly recommending that you vote ‘YES’ to accept these proposals. It is the belief of your National Executive Committee these proposals represent the best achievable through negotiation and that the 3.5% offer is equal to inflation at the anniversary date. The online referendum will close at 11am on Tuesday 29th October 2024.
