Rates of Pay and Conditions of Service 2024 – Carlisle Support Services (Arriva Rail London Cleaning Contract)

BR1/0001/CSS(ARLC)

7th August 2024

Dear Colleagues

Rates of Pay and Conditions of Service 2024 – Carlisle Support Services (Arriva Rail London Cleaning Contract)

Carlisle Support Services has refused to address our pay claim in respect of Cleaners working on the Arriva Rail London contract. The company has advised they have overspent on their overly ambitious expanded services. At time of writing, the union’s negotiating team has not received any formal offer from Carlisle Support Services in respect of the 2024 pay award.

Noting the company’s intransigence, the union’s National Executive Committee has instructed me to advise management that this union is now in dispute with Carlisle Support Services. I have also been instructed to commence an immediate ballot of all affected members for industrial action.

Consequently, on Thursday 15th August 2024 the independent scrutineer will send a ballot paper to your home address. I urge you to complete and return your ballot paper in the freepost envelope provided as soon as you receive it.

In the ballot you will be asked to vote for both strike action and industrial action short of a strike – I urge you to vote ‘YES’ to both.

MAKE SURE YOU USE YOUR VOTE

If you do not receive your voting paper, or know of a colleague who has not received it, please call the freephone helpline on 0800 376 3706, RMT Head Office on 0207 387 4771 or e-mail to request a replacement.

Important Please Note:  The independent scrutineer for RMT Ballots and Elections is 'Civica Election Services'.

Letters from Civica are not Junk Mail and should be opened.

VOTE ‘YES’ FOR STRIKE ACTION AND

VOTE ‘YES’ FOR INDUSTRIAL ACTION SHORT OF A STRIKE

I have advised the management that this union remains available for meaningful talks in order resolve the pay dispute.

Yours sincerely

Michael Lynch
