RATES OF PAY & CONDITIONS OF SERVICE 2024 – DOPPELMAYR CABLE CAR

Our Ref: TFL/0001/DCC

24th July 2024

Dear RMT Member,

RATES OF PAY & CONDITIONS OF SERVICE 2024 – DOPPELMAYR CABLE CAR

In line with Union policy, a claim was submitted for a substantial increase in rates of pay and improvements to conditions of service. Talks have taken place with the Company and the offer which has been received is as follows:

  • An CPI + 0.5% increase for each year of a 5 year agreement
  • Reducing the time that an Uber can be requested to 00:15 at the London site only
  • A 42 hour week (including the discretionary average of 3 hours paid break per week) with additional hours paid in time in Lieu (where possible) or Overtime (the Company reserves the right to decide whether overtime or time in lieu is provided)
  • Maternity paid at 90% weekly salary for 6 weeks, then 35% of weekly salary for the remaining 33 weeks
  • Paternity to increase to 4 weeks with full pay
  • A maximum 7 additional days related to premature birth before 37 weeks
  • An additional 2 weeks increase on the current full sick pay policy after 2 years of continuous employment

Your RMT Lead Officer has reported this is a derisory pay offer which also fails to address other elements of our pay claim. In particular, DCC has proposed to reduce the working week for a current average of 42.36 to 42 hours, which would leave members unable to address the 42 hour working week for another five years. The Company has also rejected our claims in respect of travel facilities, overtime pay and bank holiday pay.

You and your colleagues have been consulted over this matter and the National Executive Committee has taken the decision to conduct a ballot of all DCC members for strike action and action short of a strike in the form of an overtime and rest day working ban.

I have advised the Company and am currently making preparations to conduct the ballot. If your job title, workplace or home address has changed, please update your details using e-Membership at www.rmt.org.uk or e-mail info@rmt.org.uk or call the RMT Freephone helpline on 0800 376 3706.

Yours sincerely
