Dear RMT Member,

RATES OF PAY AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE 2024 – FREIGHTLINER LTD

Please see below, the latest information on pay talks from your Regional Organiser, Daren Ireland.

“Dear RMT Member,

I write to update RMT members on the current negotiations for the 1st January 2024 anniversary. You will recall from previous correspondence, the company proposed an offer of 2.5% conditional upon acceptance of 10 strings, this was rejected and your union is pushing for the best possible “no strings offer.” To date Freightliner Ltd has failed to table a no strings offer.

Two recent meetings have been held within the collective bargaining process on 9th & 19thApril 2024. At the 19th April meeting your employer tabled another unacceptable offer, this being 2.25% conditional on acceptance of 6 strings, plus an additional 0.75% which is well below inflation, this was rejected at the negotiating table. A further meeting is arranged for the 10th May 2024, as your Lead Officer I have made it clear I expect Freightliner to table their final written offer at this meeting.

Your union is also disappointed by the undermining of the collective bargaining process as Freightliner Ltd, intend to arrange employee meetings next week, correspondence seen today written by your management and seen by your Lead Officer states “…I would like to face into the rhetoric and chatter coming from the unions ….”

I can assure you all that your union is doing everything to push for the best possible deal for you, the membership and we will continue to do so, whilst your employer is facing in the opposite direction by wishing to fund and give you a below inflation pay increase by substantial cuts in terms and conditions and providing more flexibility, in effect giving money back to your employer.

I trust this keeps members fully updated of your union’s position.

Members are also advised to ensure all your details are up to date, including address, job titles, locations etc, if you have any changes, please email Bob Oram on b.oram@rmt.org.uk or ring the RMT North West Office on 0151 236 3912.

Also, if you know of anyone not in the RMT ask them to join at www.rmt.org.uk/join or get in contact for an application form.

In Solidarity
