Dear RMT Member

RATES OF PAY & CONDITIONS OF SERVICE 2024 – HEATHROW EXPRESS

It has come to my attention that HEX management issued a communication to all staff last week imposing a ban on any new annual leave requests and containing various other veiled threats. All this was as a result of you delivering a clear mandate for industrial action as the company pay offer falls way short of your aspirations.

I have advised the company that its totally unnecessary and highly inflammatory message to staff will do nothing to resolve our current dispute. Rather than promoting the need for a negotiated and constructive settlement to be reached, the communication threatens RMT members simply for exercising their democratic right to participate in a lawful ballot. This is despite the fact that your union has not even named any dates for industrial action and has made it clear to HEX that we are available for talks to resolve this dispute.

Your union will not tolerate any threats of this kind being made to your and your colleagues and, should we discover that any member of this union is suffering a detriment in terms of having annual leave refused, or that overtime is not being offered to RMT members while it is to others for example, then we shall consider taking any legal action available.

HEX management should be taking advantage of the fact that no formal notice has yet been given for any industrial action as an opportunity to seek a negotiated settlement to this dispute.

I can advise you that I am currently making arrangements for your representatives to meet with your union’s National Executive Committee and national officers to discuss our next steps in this dispute.

Yours sincerely

Michael Lynch
