Dear RMT Members
RATES OF PAY & CONDITIONS OF SERVICE 2024 – LONDON UNDERGROUND
STRIKE ACTION CALLED
Your Union has attended further talks with LUL regarding this years’ pay negotiations and a revised offer was tabled, a summary of which is as follows:
- A pay award of 3.8%.
- In addition to the 3.8% award, a flat rate increase of £450. The range of pay increases as a percentage uplift of base salary, with the addition of the £450, will be from 4.2% to 7.6%, with the average award being 4.6%. As an example, a Train Operator will receive a pay increase of 4.5%, a CSA1 will receive a pay increase of 4.9%.
- An underpin for lower paid staff of £1,970. The underpin has been increased to reflect the additional £450. All employees earning an FTE salary of £40,000 or below will receive a consolidated increase of £1,970. For a CSA2 graded employee that would be an equivalent pay award of 5.9%.
LUL would also make changes to its policies to reflect the following elements of the offer:
- An additional 5 days paid Paternity Leave (three weeks in total)
- 3 years’ protection of earnings to apply when a colleague is displaced or redeployed from a LU position to a TfL position due to medical reasons and moves onto a TfL contract.
Your Lead Officer advised that while this represents an improved offer, LUL’s position on pay banding has not changed. Currently over 20% of LUL members are in pay bands but during negotiations, TfL has advised that the current LUL spot salaries will be incorporated into pay bands defined by so-called job families.
A RMT Reps meeting on Thursday 10th October was unanimous in rejecting the offer and demanding that any offer be paid in full and consolidated to all members in the collective bargaining unit.
The National Executive Committee considered this matter yesterday and has taken the decision to call on London Underground members to take part in the following industrial action:
