Dear Colleagues
Rates of Pay and Conditions of Service 2024 – Orkney Ferries
Referring to previous correspondence, pay talks have been re-convened and the following revised offer has been tabled:
- A flat rate increase for all seagoing staff of 4.5%
- The current daily payment for attending training courses increased to two for one.
- Support paid release should anyone be elected to a committee
- A commitment to consider triple time for Sickness and Refit cover once the new 4 week leave rotas have been in place for a period of 6 months, if demonstrated it can be cost neutral
Consequently, the union’s National Executive Committee has instructed me to hold an e-referendum of you and your colleagues so that you can have your say. Additionally, the National Executive Committee is recommending that you vote ‘NO’ to reject this offer. The previous offer which you and your colleagues rejected was 4%, so this offer does not represent a significant improvement from the last offer. Additionally, in the 2023/24 pay cycle, RMT members at NorthLink have received a 5.8% pay uplift and RMT members at CalMac received a 5.7% uplift. Therefore, the 4.5% offer which Orkney Ferries has tabled is inferior to all the other ferry operators in Scotland.
The on-line referendum will close at 11:00 hours on Thursday 18th April 2024.
