RATES OF PAY & CONDITIONS OF SERVICE 2024 – TRANSPORT FOR LONDON

Our Ref: TFL/0001

17th October 2024

Dear RMT Member,

RATES OF PAY & CONDITIONS OF SERVICE 2024 – TRANSPORT FOR LONDON

The previous ballot returned a strong yes vote in favour of taking industrial action but unfortunately did not meet the anti-trade union law thresholds. The National Executive Committee took the decision to conduct an immediate re-ballot and I strongly urge you to RETURN YOUR BALLOT PAPER immediately to make sure we are not prevented from acting on members wishes.

Your new ballot paper was posted to you today so please look out for it arriving in the next few days. The closing date for the ballot is Thursday 7th November 2024 so if you haven’t received your ballot paper by Wednesday 23rd October, please contact us to be sent a replacement. You can call the RMT freephone helpline on 0800 376 3706 or e-mail info@rmt.org.uk

Also, last week, your RMT negotiating team attended further talks with TfL and the following revised offer has been received:

  • A pay award of 4%
  • An additional flat rate award of £400 to all employees except as set out in the bullet point below
  • A minimum increase of £2,000 for operational employees. This means that everyone on operational terms and conditions will receive a pay award of £2,000 or 4% of their eligible base salary plus the additional £400, whichever is the higher
  • Eligibility for the 24/25 performance award scheme for Band 1 employees
  • An additional 5 days paid Paternity Leave (three weeks in total)

Your Lead Officer has advised that TfL management refused any movement on the key issue of banding and business rules. This revised offer is still based on the setting of pay bands and eligibility of a member to receive the increase will be reserved for TfL to decide outside of the scope of our collective bargaining arrangements. RMT is clear that only an offer that applies in full and consolidated form to all members could be considered acceptable.

The National Executive Committee has taken the decision to reject this offer and seek an urgent meeting with the Mayor of London over this matter. I will keep you advised of all further developments.

VOTE ‘YES’ FOR STRIKE ACTION

VOTE ‘YES’ FOR INDUSTRIAL ACTION SHORT OF STRIKE

Yours sincerely

Michael Lynch
