Dear Colleague,

Rates of Pay & Conditions of Service 2017 – Virgin Trains East Coast

BALLOT UPDATE

Further to my previous correspondence, I write to you again to update you on the latest developments in the matter of your pay and conditions. An Avoidance of Dispute meeting has taken place and your negotiating team entered into these talks with high hopes of a fresh offer that would meet our aspirations.

You can imagine their surprise and shock when Management declined to offer any improvements to the current offer and said that they would be forcing through the pay increase and the sweeping changes to your sick pay terms and conditions, and that you and your colleagues would have to like it or lump it. The sheer breath-taking arrogance of the Company seems to be that we will roll over and meekly let them push through their agenda without a fight…

TIME TO PROVE THEM WRONG!!

They have ignored the democratic result of your referendum in which the offer was overwhelmingly rejected. They are refusing to listen to you and they are refusing to try and settle this matter with your union through the agreed machinery. They are saying that it’s our way or the highway! Well now is the time to make them do a U Turn.

Your National Executive Committee has decided that the only voice these management bullies will listen to is that of a ballot for industrial action. Your ballot papers will be dispatched shortly and I urge you to YES for Strike Action and YES for industrial action short of a strike.

Do not waste this golden opportunity to deliver a huge mandate for strike action in the upcoming ballot, let them know how angry you are at their disgusting tactics and their shameless attempts to force you to accept a string-laden pay offer that will strip you of decent sick pay arrangements and replace them with a sub-standard policy that removes the safety net for anyone unfortunate enough to be absent as a result of a long term illness.

SUPPORT YOUR UNION

VOTE YES FOR STRIKE ACTION & YES

FOR INDUSTRIAL ACTION SHORT OF A STRIKE

I will keep you advised of further developments.

Yours sincerely
