RATES OF PAY & CONDITIONS OF SERVICE 2019 – BLUESTAR
Further to previous correspondence on the above matter, I can report that further talks with Bluestar have been convened and the following revised proposal has been tabled:-
• £11.50 per hour from 7th July 2019.
• £250 back pay (pro rata for new starters post 1/1/19 and part time workers)
• Rest day working enhancement of 50p per hour from 1st September 2019
• £11.80 per hour from 5th January 2020.
During talks, the union’s negotiating team tabled a counter proposal based upon members feedback calling for a single year offer of 11.50 per hour, an overtime rate introduced for all hours above 40 on the basis of a maximum of 8 hours (48 hours overall) and back pay recognition based on the hourly rate of £11.50. However, this counter proposal was rejected by management.
Having consulted with you and your colleagues, the union’s National Executive Committee has instructed me to notify Bluestar of our formal rejection of the latest offer.
Additionally, the National Executive Committee has decided to change the forthcoming industrial action. Therefore, the overtime and rest day working ban which was due to start on 22nd July 2019 and conclude on the 28th July 2019 has been suspended. Instead members are instructed not to work any overtime and not to work on their rest days over the contracted 40 hours for one week commencing from:-
• 00:01 hours on Sunday 28th July 2019 and 23:59 hours on Saturday 3rd August 2019.
I urge you all to continue with this magnificent support and to stand shoulder to shoulder during the upcoming action. The company are aware that as always, RMT remains available for talks and is ready to enter into negotiations in order resolve the current dispute.
