Dear Colleagues

RATES OF PAY AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE 2020/21 - STAGECOACH SOUTH WEST (EXETER, BARNSTAPLE & TORBAY)

Referring to our previous correspondence, further talks have been convened I am pleased to advise you that these talks have resulted in a new proposal which is outlined below:

  • 2.2% (24p) from 1st May followed by a further 2.2% (24p) from the first payroll week after the deal is accepted;
  • A same pence rise for cleaners and lower paid staff;
  • For Engineers there is a proposal that the Company will be discussing with us in the coming days that we are told will result in further rate rises
  • A £400 one off payment for each employee relating to last financial year;
  • Undertaking to reduce 41-hour week over the coming years by 30 mins each year with no loss of pay and also introduce more 4-day week lines;
  • Anyone who has left in the 12 months prior to date of acceptance can apply to return and, if accepted, can return on either their old terms and conditions or the new contract;
  • Existing staff retain all current terms and conditions and this includes honouring schedules agreement and local arrangements;
  • A commitment to build on the current collaborative approach on rosters with roster representatives in each depot working alongside their scheduling partner to deliver the best results for the depot. As well as the commitment to gradual movement towards the 39-hour week, this will include exploring 35-hour week rosters and part time 23-hour rosters as well as a consistent pursuit of improved punctuality.
  • The above approach on rosters will also ensure that all individuals on all rosters are treated fairly and respectfully irrespective of the terms and conditions under which they work.
  • Future negotiations with the RMT on pay and conditions will continue to cover all staff including new starters and we will be open-minded to any subsequent proposals. Within the new contract, a line is included confirming that the new employee is covered by the existing collective bargaining arrangements.

Your National Executive Committee (NEC) has carefully considered the offer and it has instructed me to hold an electronic referendum of all members so that you can have your say on the company’s proposals. The NEC is also recommending that you vote 'YES' to accept the offer.

Make no mistake, without your willingness to fight the company for a better deal via an industrial action ballot, this offer would not have been forthcoming and I would like to congratulate you on your principled stand.

The on-line referendum will close at 10am on Tuesday 26th October 2021
