22nd December 2017

Dear Colleague,

Rates of Pay & Conditions of Service 2017 – Virgin West Coast Trains

Referring to my previous correspondence, dated 21st December 2017, the last-minute talks have produced an improved offer which is as follows:-

• An increase of 3.2% to all salaries and dynamic allowances for the respective grades covered within this agreement, backdated to 1st April 2017.

• An increase to the allocation of Friends and Family tickets from 4 to 6 per annum. The additional 2017 entitlement can be carried over to 2018.

• It is agreed that the base working week for the FTE staff will remain unchanged at 35 hours.

• A one-off, non-pensionable payment of £500 (subject to tax and pro rata for part time staff) for not revisiting the matter of a reduction in the working week for the lifetime of this current franchise (December 2020).

I must make it clear to you that the £500 payment is NOT a buyout of the reduction in the working week; it is just deferring the matter for another time.

Your National Executive Committee (NEC) has considered the offer and it has taken on board the recommendation of your Company Council representatives to hold a referendum with a recommendation to accept the offer. Your voting papers will be dispatched to you in the New Year.

Yours sincerely

Mick Cash
