Dear Colleagues

Rates of Pay and Conditions of Service 2018 – Heathrow Express

Further to my letter dated 28th February 2018 in which I advised you of the pay referenda results. In light of result, I wrote to Heathrow Express to advise them the RMT had rejected their derisory pay offer. The union’s negotiating team has now had the opportunity to meet with the company to seek an improved pay settlement. At the meeting the company tabled the following revised offer:-

Option 1

• 2.7% increase for all grades covered by the negotiated group. This offer excludes Train Drivers and Train Driver Instructors (separate resolved deal), any safeguarded Customer Hosts (former CSR or former CSA) or non-safeguarded Hosts on the lower salary of £20,564
• 3.1% increase for all non-safeguarded Hosts on the lower salary of £20,564
• Former safeguarded CSA or CSR grades will not receive any increase as per 2014 agreement

Option 2

• 2.5% increase for all grades covered by the negotiated group. This offer excludes Train Drivers and Train Driver Instructors (separate resolved deal), any safeguarded customer host (former CSR or former CSA) or non-safeguarded Hosts on the lower salary of £20,564
• 3.1% increase for all non-safeguarded Hosts on the lower salary of £20,564
• £500 lump sum for all former safeguarded CSA and CSR grades, pro rata for half or part time.

The union’s negotiating team are of the belief that this offer does not meet with this union’s aspirations for a fair and decent pay increase. The revised offer is essentially a re-wording of the offer which was rejected by you and your colleagues at the beginning of the year. I have now advised the company of this union’s rejection of their latest offer and another meeting has been scheduled to discuss this matter on 26th March 2018.

The matter has now been considered by your union’s National Executive Committee and it has instructed that should the company refuse to improve their pay offer on 26th March 2018 then the RMT will ballot affected members at Heathrow Express for industrial action.

In order to prepare for an industrial action ballot, it is vital that your details are up to date. These details are your job title, your workplace and your contact details. Please report any changes to the RMT Helpline on 0800 376 3706 or alternatively, you can email info@rmt.org.uk

I will keep you fully updated as new information arises.

Yours sincerely

Mick Cash
General Secretary
