Rates of Pay & Conditions of Service 2017 – Virgin Trains East Coast
Referring to my previous correspondence, I write to update you on the latest developments in this matter. You will recall that a meeting was held at RMT Head Office on 22nd February 2018 with your representatives, the Lead Officer and your National Executive Committee (NEC) in attendance to discuss the way forward.
During this meeting it became very clear that the legal claims of you and your colleagues must remain a separate matter from any pay negotiations, irrespective of any subsequent revisions to the current pay offer. However, there has been a small development in that the Company has said it will withdraw the condition of acceptance of a mandatory rolling sick year.
I will be informing Virgin Trains East Coast that we are willing to accept the 2017 pay offer but only on the grounds that your employment tribunal claims will not be dropped and these tribunal claims will remain as a separate issue from the pay.
I will keep you advised of any further progress in this matter.
