Dear Colleague,

RMT REJECTS OFFER – STRIKE ACTION TO TAKE PLACE

RATES OF PAY AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE 2020/21 – STAGECOACH YORKSHIRE (CHESTERFIELD)

Firstly, I would like to congratulate you for returning a magnificent result in the recent ballot. You have given your union a mandate to push forward in this dispute. Having attended fresh talks with the high hope that there would be a worthy offer tabled, you can imagine your negotiator’s disappointment when the deal which was offered still did not meet our aspirations nor rewards you for all your hard work during the global pandemic. After all, it is on the back of your hard work and professionalism that the profits are generated.

The offer does nothing to address the rising cost of living (RPI is currently standing at 4.8%) for both years of this offer and nor does it offer any enhancements to your terms and conditions . For reference, the rejected offer is:-

• A £400 to all full-time employees for 2020, this will be paid pro rata to part time employees and those who have been employed part of the year
• A 2% increase for all rates of pay effective 1st May 2021
• There will be no changes to existing terms and conditions.
• The next anniversary date will be May 2022

In light of this, your union’s National Executive Committee has rejected the offer and it has instructed that members are to take the following strike action:-

Not to book on for any shifts that commence between:-

• 00:01 hours and 23:59 hours on Monday 18th October 2021

I ask you all to show your support and stand shoulder to shoulder during this strike action. A show of strength will prove to management that you are prepared to fight for the decent pay deal and genuine improvements to your terms and conditions that you all deserve.

I trust this keeps you fully advised on the matter and I will, of course, keep you fully updated on any further developments.

UNITY IS STRENGTH
SUPPORT THE INDUSTRIAL ACTION

Yours sincerely

Michael Lynch
General Secretary
