Dear Colleague,
RECOGNITION – CARLISLE SUPPORT SERVICES (NATIONAL RAIL CONTRACTS)
Following discussions between RMT officials and Carlisle Support Services management, I am pleased to report that an overarching union recognition agreement has been signed by both your union and the company, and that RMT is now the officially recognised union for collective bargaining purposes for all non-management staff employed by Carlisle Support Services across all rail contracts, nationally.
Carlisle currently holds contracts with the following Train Operating Companies (TOCs) for various functions:
- Arriva Rail London
- Avanti West Coast
- Chiltern Railways
- CrossCountry
- East Midlands Railway
- Greater Anglia
- Merseyrail
- MTR Elizabeth Line
- Northern Trains
- Southeastern
- Transpennine Express
- West Midlands Trains
In certain cases, there is more than one contract with a given TOC. In all cases, RMT is now the officially recognised union.
Where any of these Carlisle-held contracts end and/or are TUPEd to other companies, RMT’s recognition status as the recognised union will be protected under TUPE.
Where Carlisle enters into further rail contracts where RMT is not already recognised, the new recognition agreement will also cover them.
Kindly bring this letter to the attention of your non-RMT colleagues and encourage them to join RMT to take advantage of the many benefits of RMT membership in a collectively organised workplace.
Yours sincerely,
Michael Lynch
General Secretary
