REDUCTION IN PAY DUE TO WORK SHORTAGE – STORY RAIL

Our Ref BR4/9/18

11th October 2019

TO ALL RMT MEMBERS AT STORY RAIL

Dear Colleagues

REDUCTION IN PAY DUE TO WORK SHORTAGE – STORY RAIL

You will be aware of the savage cuts to your wages, terms and conditions that Story Rail are planning to implement. Your union is categorically opposed to this completely unacceptable attack that will mean a drop in members’ take-home pay and standard of living.

We have informed Story Rail that we are now in dispute with them and that we will be balloting our members for industrial action in due course.

Story Rail has cited Network Rail has a reason for their cuts. Accordingly we have written to the most senior management at Network Rail and the Transport Secretary in Scotland raising our objections and asking them to use their influence to ensure current Network Rail contracts are sustainable and resourced.

RMT is not currently recognised for collective bargaining purposes by Story Rail. The more members we can recruit increases the likelihood of our achieving recognition and enable us to represent you with a more powerful voice. Please encourage your workmates to join the union and help fight the cuts to both yours and their own pay.

Story Rail will begin to hold individual consultations with staff from 14th October. We would strongly advise that you do not attend these without being accompanied by an RMT representative. Please contact the Regional Office on 0141 332 1117 or email A.Craig@rmt.org.uk to arrange this.

Your union is meeting with Story Rail management on 15th October and I will keep you advised of further developments.

Yours sincerely

Mick Cash
General Secretary
