REDUCTION IN TICKET OFFICE HOURS – ARRIVA RAIL LONDON

TO ALL ARRIVA RAIL LONDON MEMBERS

Dear Colleagues,

REDUCTION IN TICKET OFFICE HOURS – ARRIVA RAIL LONDON

I write to advise you that the ballot has now closed and the result is as follows: -

Are you prepared to take strike action?

Number of individuals who were entitled to vote in the ballot:      383

Number of votes cast in the ballot:                                         158

Number of individuals answering “Yes” to the question:               147

Number of individuals answering “No” to the question:                11

Number of spoiled or otherwise invalid voting papers returned:     0

Are you prepared to take industrial action short of a strike?

Number of individuals who were entitled to vote in the ballot:      383

Number of votes cast in the ballot:                                         158

Number of individuals answering “Yes” to the question:               151

Number of individuals answering “No” to the question:                6

Number of spoiled or otherwise invalid voting papers returned:     1

Although you and your colleagues voted by 96% in favour action the turnout for the ballot did not meet the legal thresholds required. The anti-union laws mean that you have to have a 50% turnout before you can use any ballot mandate and this was not met. The union’s National Executive Committee is currently considering this result and I shall write to you again shortly.

Yours sincerely

Mick Cash

General Secretary
