REDUNDANCIES, WIRING TRAIN DEPARTMENT – COLAS RAIL

Our Ref: BR4/16/3

26 February 2021

Dear colleague

REDUNDANCIES, WIRING TRAIN DEPARTMENT – COLAS RAIL

A further consultation meeting has taken place between RMT and Colas since I previously wrote to you with regards to the redundancy situation within the Wiring Train Department. It was originally eight positions that were at risk of redundancy, but a further one member of staff – in a management grade seconded into the role – has also been identified at risk, putting the total now at nine.

Five members of staff have already been redeployed and two employees have chosen to accept voluntary redundancy, leaving two workers still at risk of redundancy.

Further efforts are being undertaken to find suitable alternative work for those who remain at risk and it is hoped that further progress can be made at the individual consultations.

The final collective consultation takes place next week, after which I hope that the outcome of the process is reached with a satisfactory result for all members affected.

I will write to you following the meeting next week and hope that you are suitably advised of the situation as it currently stands.

Yours sincerely

Mick Cash
General Secretary
